Today was an amazing luncheon for the UJA Women’s Philanthropy and it was truly an inspiring and wonderful event on so many levels.
As an active member of this great organization, it is extremely powerful to see so many terrific people who continually give to those in need and see how their fundraising dollars are put to use.
Today Klara Silverstein and her daughter Lisa Silverstein of Silverstein Properties were both honored for their continual dedication, work and support of UJA. Both of their speeches were heart warming.
We then had a performance and tribute by the amazing singer Phoebe Snow who dedicated her song to her wonderful daughter Valerie Rose who she just lost last year. There was not a dry eye in the house as she sang and inspired us all. As she was singing, I am sure we were all reminded of losses in our lives and for me–it was the constant reminder of the loss of my dear parents who continually smile down from heaven.
After Phoebe, it was truly a hard act to follow and it was followed by another special guest–Cherie Blair who spoke about Empowering Women and what lies ahead for all of us and how we can all work together and create stronger and more powerful bonds.
I walked away from this lunch more connected to friends, contacts, UJA and being totally inspired!
