Today I had a great catch up conversation with a good friend in Longboat Key, Florida where my wonderful parents lived for many years and was also like a second home for me. Betty Taylor was always the banker that my Mom, Molly would work with and Mom seemed to always be at the bank and got to know Betty.
No matter what the issue was of any sort, Betty took the time, listened and always was a friendly, happy face and at the same time-a true ambassador of Northern Trust.
Over the years, I also got to know Betty well and fast forward several years ago, it was Betty who was the first connection that got me to address and be a part of the Sales meeting for the Private Wealth bankers in the Florida region.
We always touch base and she is someone who clearly follows up and walks the talk.
Just last week, I had a nice email message from her about one of my tips and how she followed up on it and it was both of our 'promptings' to get in touch and catch up.
What a great lesson I learned again today and put into practice. When someone takes the time to send you a message to say hello, thank you, or keep in touch—-take the time to reach out and follow up with that person.
It makes two people's day-yours and your connection.
I now look forward to my next visit to Longboat Key and to visiting my friend, Betty.
