The three great essentials to achieve anything worth while are: Hard work, Stick-to-itiveness, and Common sense. Thomas Edison
As we look back on the year-take time to think about all of those that have helped and touched your life to make it better.
R-Reach out to an old friend, contact or client that has given you a piece of advice, a compliment or even a constructive piece of criticism. Show respect for everyone who has passed your way-just as we would like it for our self and think of all the wonderful relationships in all areas of your life and make sure to be in touch whether through a card, email or call and if possible face to face.
E-This is the time of year when we think back on what we have learned and how empathy to others plays a huge part. We never knew why someone didn't return our call...until we found out what happened to him or her or his or her family during the year. Look at the different people in your life and see how showing empathy to them has helped you.
F-Friends make the world go around. Who is a friend that has taught you something or given you some inspiration? Think of the friends in your life and let them know you appreciate them. I always remember my dear Mom said: "We are truly lucky when you can count the real friends in your life on one hand". She is so right and yet-we all have many other 'friends' that do pass through our life and who make a difference in each passage along the way.
L-Think of the legacy you are creating with the life you lead. Strive to make a pact with yourself to be a better listener, be loyal to your family, friends and clients and commit to being a life long learner. I work on this continually.
E-Everything we do takes 'execution'. As I often say in my workshops or speeches, it sounds simple and easy-yet putting it all into practice takes work. I look back and see how far I have come and keep going forward. It is a process or evolution.
C-Communication is a loaded word! Everyday we learn something new on how to communicate more effectively with those we connect and interact with. Think of the different cultures, contacts and collaborations you have been involved with this year and how you will continue on in the new year to make a stronger impact.
T-Take the time to think through all that is important to you. Realize how long it takes to develop true trust with someone. Thank them for that and most of all-going forward be 'true to yourself'.
Have a wonderful, peaceful and happy holiday and a healthy new year!
All the best!
